Hilo

Hilo is the second largest city in the state of Hawaii. Historically, it was a commercial center and a plantation town. Hilo has survived two tsunamis in the last century. Once in 1946 and another in 1960. In the aftermath of the deadly waves, Hilo was rebuilt with newer building further inland. Today, Hilo is the center of government for the County of Hawaii.
